Kayo

-BIO-

Kayo was born in Cali but moved to Oregon in his pre-teen years. He has always been influenced by music and was performing by the age of 18. Kayo formed a group called Flow International with his friend Gen-Erik of Animal Farm & Line of Fire. They had a smooth jazzy sound of soul hop which could be compared to Tribe Called Quest and J5. Flow International had R&B songstress Toni Hill as a guest performer in one of their shows. Kayo and Gen-Erik went there own ways. Kayo moved to New England and took a break from music to attend college and play football. Even though Kayo was not pursuing the music industry he still continued to write, freestyle, and battle on weekends with other local artist and friends. Kayo was formerly in the duo, Flatliners. Within months of their union they were doing big things. They performed in showcases that had major magazines and artists in attendance and performed all over New England and New York. They had air play on XM and New York radio. Flatliners’ main goal was to become a memorable hip-hop duo that gives their all in their lyrics and performances. Club owners have commented and quoted that they were “the best performing hip-hop act they have had in their venue”. The duo has since parted ways and Kayo is ready to use the knowledge and skills he learned from the duo to better navigate the industry. Kayo has struggled to work his way up to the top from the bottom. He has proven that he is dedicated and when given the opportunity to work with professionals the sky is the limit. He hopes to set new goals for the industry for years to come.
